the program
nine ways the night gets better than the original.
your worst high school photo, framed and lit.
before the night, you upload the photo you swore you'd burn. we print the best ones at gallery scale and line the entrance with them, edge to edge. you walk in past your own awkward year and somebody you've never met laughs at your bangs.
crown chosen at midnight.
ten nominees, revealed the week of. one ballot opens at the door and closes at eleven. the king and queen are crowned at midnight on the dance floor, with a real crown and a real spotlight. your acceptance speech is between you and the dj.
eight categories, voted live.
best dancer, best dressed, most dramatic, and five more. ballots get passed at 9pm and counted on stage at 12:30am. winners get a ribbon, a polaroid, and the kind of bragging rights that follow you into the next group chat.
a wall the size of the room.
ten feet of cream paper and a basket of gold sharpies. write your name, draw a heart, leave a phone number you'll regret in the morning. we photograph the wall before tear-down and email everyone the print at 3am the next day.
2000s cocktails, ladled by hand. open bar add-on.
a hand-ladled punch bowl reset every hour with rotating recipes from the 2000s playbook (think the original sex on the beach, a real long island, a dirty shirley with intent). bartender-attended. included free with the open bar add-on; otherwise sold by the glass.
cover band into 2012 anthems by 11.
live four-piece kicks off at 8:45 with 2000s pop and r&b the way it was meant to be played. dj takes over at 11 with a 2012-2018 anthem set built from the actual prom playlists you swore you wouldn't sing along to. you'll sing along.
sliders and vegan tacos, pre-cab.
midnight kitchen drop: smash sliders, vegan al pastor tacos, hot honey chicken tenders, and a salt station so you can make it home. served on real plates. there is, in fact, a chair to sit in.
two backdrops. a real photographer.
two backdrops on opposite sides of the room: one classic step-and-repeat, one a tinsel curtain that you'll see all over your timeline. a real photographer (not a phone on a tripod) shooting all night. proofs in your inbox by friday.
theater. athletes. band. art kids.
soft zones around the room organized by who you were in high school: theater kids by the stage, athletes near the bar, band nerds claiming a corner with their own playlist, art kids holding court near the photo wall. icebreaker: which one were you, and which one are you now.
